ImproveMyWater
Decision Support System for Early Warning and Response in water utilities
ImproveMyWater is a web-based Decision Support System for Early Warning and Response in water utilities, launched by INFALIA PC. The solution allows water stakeholders to cost-effectively monitor water resources to detect hazardous contaminants and events that may impact the drinking-water quality.
It utilises novel deep learning models in real-time, open-access Earth observation data from the EU Copernicus Programme’s Sentinel-2 to identify three types of hazards in water bodies:
- Muddy waters
- Surface formations (e.g., oil spills)
- Flash floods
The results are mapped and visualised through interactive UIs and user-friendly dashboards, enabling real-time inspection of water resources and immediate responses by water stakeholders. Additionally, the system classifies the severity of detected risks and generates personalised notifications and alerts for predefined user roles.

ImproveMyWater eliminates the need for on-site inspections by enabling regular monitoring of vast geographic areas. It introduces innovative methods for effectively monitoring water resources and assessing infrastructure protection against natural hazards, such as floods, or human-induced events that cause water pollution.
This contributes to at least five of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): 6, 8, 9, 12, and 13. Furthermore, it complies with EU Directives, including the EU Water Framework, Drinking Water, and the EU Floods Directive (2007/60/EC) on the assessment and management of flood risks.
